As of 2010, few lights will compare to capabilities contained within the 1.6 ounce Preon 2 flashlight by “4Sevens.” It’s not the only game in town when it comes to subcompact lighting technologies, but it’s one of the best. The Preon 1 is its little brother (single AAA, not reviewed in depth here) and it differs in having a twist versus a clicky UI (both interchangeable if desired). For its excellent ergonomics (discussed), longer burn times, and attention getting brightness level, I prefer the Preon 2. It incorporates capabilities that had previously been the domain of larger flashlights and gives its user more versatility. While single mode, medium-brightness level lights (like the still excellent, high value Streamlight Stylus Pro) will continue to win fans for their simplicity, the 2-cell AAA Preon 2 is a more flexible illumination tool. In the primary mode, it gives the user a choice of: Low 2.2 lumens (a useful illumination level), Med 22, or a class-leading High mode giving 160 lumens. The high mode gives the dimunitive light some serious searching capabilities, leaving dimmer lights in the dust. These primary modes are accessed by either a hard-click on the end push button or, once turned on, by soft presses on the switch. Special modes of Strobe, SOS, Beacon High, or Beacon Low are also easily accessed but reside deep enough in the interface where accidental actuation is unlikely. All the special modes further give a depth to the Preon that other penlights just …

@EverythingisFire UPDATE:
If your going to use this coupon code from this video, you need to register an account @ “Candle Power Forums” and give them your username.
Just bought this through 4sevens and used that $3 off with that code you provided, Nutn. They sent me an email saying it shipped(already!) but they wrote in the comments that they noticed I used the discount and wanted to know my member name? I guess that discount is for the candle power forums? Hopefully they’re cool with it.
@RandomCivillian
Ah okay, thanks! didn’t see you replied to it but it could be buried here somewhere.
@EverythingisFire thought i replied to this, the coupon had expired by the time the first person asked me, unfortunately. i tried to use the coup a couple days later to get one for my brother and it said it was already expired =/ sorry guys
@RandomCivillian
That’s an insane price!
You should share that code haha
@CoolDre80 Aluminium does not rust dude
Argh, not I have to debate whether to get the Streamlight Stylus Pro(which I’ve had in my amazon cart for a month) or this one (just heard about it today by amazon recommendation). Seems like I’ll be good with either!
@gearhead1805 I got mine at firearmspro with the Nutn’ discount code on his home channel page. It’s a great light.
Just ordered this light today! I’m sooo psyched!
AMAZING light, especially for the price point – love it! Only CON (so far, few months): 4sevens needs to harden their pocket clips. It works pretty well, however a hardened steel clip that does not “bend out” on ya once a week or so would be a great upgrade to the next version of this light. I’ve bent it back to “tight” several times now and i’m concerned that it will weaken over time (like a paper clip) and snap. I know replacements are available, it’s just more annoying than anything…
I have had this light for a few months now. Love it. EDC this light every day and it disappears in my pocket. Only problem i found was that the batteries rattle in teh tube when i walk. I just taped the batteries together and the rattle is now gone. Great light! thanks for turning me on to it, Nutn
Just got on and love it, great review!
Where is the cheapest place online to find this light??? It seems like i can’t find to many places that sell it.
А какая мощность светодиода ?
As someone who scuba dives i would like to see some of these manufacturers make lights of this intensity waterproof to 100 meters… Pelican has made zytel bodied lights with this capability for over 20 years now.. Browning used to sell a AA two cell penlight which was made by Pelican that was waterproof to 600ft…. again, it was out 20 years ago… I dont understand how O ringed Aluminum tube construction such as these newer High INtensity LED’s cant accomplish this same specification?
@RandomCivillian, now you’ve gone and done it! Search as I may, I am unable to locate that $20 coupon code. Will you please post it on this video’s comments?
got mine from PFIdude…great service & price! The light is truly amazing. My only issue is that on off button., I have wasted a few sets of batteries already because it has been switched on while in my cargo pants pocket….probably from sitting down..etc. I am going to try and make a sleeve so that it will cover the switch i think.
Where can i buy this?
thanks to TNP, people can make educated choices when it comes to purchases. the 20% of your life (that we see) is invaluable. thanks veri for helping with TNP. keep it up!

I had a power outage tonight and guess what saved the day? The Preon 2!!!
Just received my Preon 2 today. Ordered from PFIdude and arrived very quickly. Opened it up and played around with it a bit and I am extremely impressed. Great quality, well made, and it seems even brighter than one of my old C cell Maglights with no artifacts in the beam that I can see. Very happy with the purchase and with the discount through PFIdude, it was a great deal. Thanks for the recommendation Nutnfancy!
@RandomCivillian Great deal!!! — Veri
saw this after buying a replacement streamlight. got bummed to think hat id have to spend a pretty penny to get one of these (cuz after that review i knew id have to get one.). fortunately i found a coupon code that got me 20 bucks off on 4sevens’ website. got mine for 25 bucks!!! cant wait to get it!
